  2. My favorite book is The Miraculous Journey of Edward Toulane. We read it last year in class and I read it again with my family over the summer. I also like the book I`m reading right now. It`s called "The People Of Sparks".I am starting to think I like novels.Even though they are VERY LONG and sometimes sad I like them anyway. Because they are sooooooooo cool!!!

  3. Hi Alexis,
I might have to find and read your favorite book. I haven't read it yet. Novels are great to read, it gives you an opportunity to really get into the story. I really enjoyed the series The City of Ember, the People of Sparks is the second in that series. Do you think that you will read the first one? Which of the characters do you like best?

  5. My favorite book I read is Josesph. I liked it because it's from the Bible. It's fun also when you don't know what's going to happen next. The book is so adventurous when Joseph was a favorite son, then a slave, after that a prisoner, finally the 2nd in command of Egypt! God is so amazing.

  7. I am reading the Hardy Boys "Footsteps Under the Window". My mom and I both really like mysteries. Frank and Joe's father is a private investigator who is always on a case and the brothers like to help him solve these crimes. I like this book because I never know what is going to happen next! Have you ever read this book? Do you enjoy mysteries?

  8. Hi Patrick,
I LOVE mysteries! They tend to get me trouble however. I have a hard time putting them down, so I spend time reading when I should be doing other things. Have you read other Hardy Boys books? I haven't read the one that you are reading now. Should I? Is it REALLY good?

  9. Hi Ben,
Wow! You all found books that I haven't read yet. Did you really get to know Joseph through the story? I have read a couple of novels about Bible times and I now have a much better understanding of how life was back then because the author went into such detail. Which part of the book did you like best? Slave, prisoner, or when he was powerful?

  10. My favorite book was The Sea of Monsters, by Rick Riordan. This book had alot of action. Percy was sent on a dangerous quest to find a Golden fleece that was guarded by a Cyclops. If you like adventure , this is the book to read.

  11. Mrs. Phillips, during the summer I read "Clementine" written by Sara Pennypacker. The book was so funny, I had my mom purchase the other three books about "Clementine." Although Clementine means well and wants to help everyone, she always finds herself in trouble. Clementine spends a lot of time visiting the principle during school for the good deeds she thinks she is doing.

  12. Hi Louis,
I read The Lightening Thief. I think it is the first in the series. Have you read it? It sure was full of adventure! If you read it, which do you like better?

  13. Hi Patrick and Dylan, You are on! I see your comments.:)

  14. Hi Tiarra,
How sad that Clementine gets in trouble when she thinks that she is doing something good. Has that ever happened to you? Would you recommend this book for others to read?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I read "The Janitor's boy" by Andrew Clements. It is about a boy, Jack Rankin who sticks gum all around the school. It was so funny.

  16. Hi this is Emily and I read "High Tide in Hawaii" a Magic Tree House book. I liked this book because it was very interesting and adventurous because you didn't know what was going to happen next. I also learned that there are earthquakes in the ocean and that causes REALLY BIG waves. I would recommend this book to others.

  17. Hi Emily,
Did you also know that there are volcanoes under the ocean? Isn't that pretty cool. Hawaii is a chain of islands make from volcanoes. Did the book talk about that? Have you read many Magic Tree House books? If so, which is your favorite?

  18. Hi Kate,
I like your picture. It looks like you were having a really good game. What else can you tell me about the book? Did Jack change in the book? What do you think of the way he was embarrassed by his Dad being the janitor?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I like reading people`s profile p.s this is more fun than science

    ReplyDelete
  20. Jack really didn't change he kept getting himself in trouble. He told his classmates he wanted to be a janitor when he grows up. Thats when he started getting teased because his dad is the janitor.People like Kirk and Luke were teasing him.

  27. Hi it is Skyler I am reading Jack and Annie. And it is a really good series.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hi Dan,
What do you think of Brenda getting rid of all the dogs? Did you like the Prophet of Yonwood? Now you'll have to read some of the others in the series to see how they fit together. My favorite is the last one, but you HAVE to read it last or it isn't as fun.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hi Patrick, "It is interesting." That doesn't make me want to read it. By the way what book are we talking about? I need some good details to make me interested. What details can you tell me?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hi Skyler,
Good to see you here Skyler. What details can you tell me about your book? What is the relationship between Jack and Annie? What are they doing? Why is it a good series?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm sorry about reading the third one first. I'm just worried about how many points I have to get. I wouldn't like Brenda B. taking all the dogs away. She thought they were orders from God but they really weren't.

  32. Mrs. Philips, I didn't know there were volcanoes under the ocean. You taught me something new and fun. I think my favorite Magic Tree House Book is Pirates Past Noon, which I am reading now or High Tide in Hawaii. I have read many Magic Tree House Books. Have you read a Magic Tree House book? If so which one is your favorite?

  33. Tiarra,

Is Clementine a A/R book? It sounds funny.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Emily,
I have only read a few Magic Tree House books. The thing that I liked most was that they taught me things in the middle of a great fiction story. Did you learn anything in Pirates Past Noon?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Mrs. Philips,
No I have not learned anything in Pirates Past Noon. But I am not finished with the book yet.

    ReplyDelete

Did you love the ending? I won't ask how it ended in case someone else wants to read it. I hope that Annie got saved in the end :) What part did you like the best?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hi Daniel,
Did you know that there are volcanoes under the oceans? Isn't that pretty cool? They even make lava, it spreads out and is called pillow lava. Some times they build up enough that they become islands, like Hawaii.
Tell me some more of your thoughts on the Prophet of Yonwood. What did you think of it?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Dear Tiarra,
You have made a lot of people interested in Clementine. Can you tell us one funny part?

    ReplyDelete
  42. dylan says:
I finished the Hardy Boys book. It is a great book if you like mysteries! Mrs. Phillips, do you like Hardy Boys Mysteries?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Dear Emily
Clemintine is not a A/R book. But I could bring it to school for you to borrow. It is really funny I hope you enjoy it

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hi Mrs. Phillips ,
The funniest part is when Margaret cut off her own hair with the "DO NOT REMOVE FROM THE ART ROOM SCISSORS." Margaret's hair was halfway down her back before she cut it off. Clementine found her in the bathroom crying so Clementine came up with the idea to cut the rest of her hair off. While Clementine was cutting the rest of Margaret's hair, the art teacher walked in and shouted "CLEMENTINE WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Then Margaret went all historical, and the art teacher went all historical, and nobody could think of anything to do except the regular thing, which is send Clementine to the principal's office. Clementine explained to principal Rice that she was helping Margaret.

It was also funny, when after school Margaret went over to Clementine's house. Clementine decided to get down her mom's permanent markers and drew orange curls all over Margaret's head.

  45. Dear Tiarra,
Clemintine sounds like a great book. Maybe you could see if Mrs. Smith could get the AR quiz for it. It might be a book that I'd like to read. I love funny books as well as mysteries.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Hi Dylan,

  51. The hour of The Olimpions! I recomend this this book to all of you guys.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Dear Skyler,
What was the best part of the book?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hi Mrs. Phillips - I am reading a book about lacrosse called the "Warriors". It is about Canadian Indians who play lacrosse to train their young men for war.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hi Patrick,
Do you think that lacrosse was a good way to train the warriors? What kind of skills did they learn in the game that they might need as warriors?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hi Mrs. Phillips - yes, I think that lacrosse was a great way to train warriors. Lacrosse gave the warriors endurance because they had to run for a long time and even sprint! They also had to use their bodies to hit and their arms to swing the stick and check. The warriors had to be fast and strong. They had to be smart in order to trick their opponent. These are all skills that a great warrior needs. They called lacrosse the Creator's game and said it was like a prayer, reminding players to be thankful to God and they would find peace in their hearts. This is important in war.

  58. Hi Patrick,
It sounds like you really learned a lot about lacross, and training. Do you think that you might like to play it some day?

    ReplyDelete
  59. Dear Mrs. Phillips - I play lacrosse for Trumbull on the U11A Lightening Team. I have played since I was 2 years old and my dad played at UMASS. I even go to the college lacrosse championship games every year. I love lacrosse! my dad even owns lacrosse stores.

I was definately my favorite book so far. I want my parents to read it too. I am going to read a small book now then start on The City of Ember. I cant wait to read them all. There is a new one that just came out too called the dimond of dark hold

    ReplyDelete
  62. Hi Alexis, what book did you read? Maybe I will read it too. PatricK

    ReplyDelete
  63. Hi Patrick,
That is so cool that you play lacrosse, and your dad too! Now I know better why you enjoyed the book so much. Alexis is reading the City of Ember series, she'll have to tell you about it. I really enjoyed that set. Have you read any of the Warrior books? The boys a couple of years ago were loving them. I don't think that they are AR books however. (They are on the table by the computer).

    ReplyDelete
  64. Hi Alexis,
I'm glad that you'll be reading the City of Ember soon. I liked it better than The People of Sparks. I wonder how it will be for you, The City of Ember is the first in the series. Maybe it won't matter at all if you read them out of order. Maybe it will all make better sense to you because you read the second one first! We'll find out soon.

  65. Dear Mrs. Phillips,
I am reading a book about helicopters. I like the book because I like learning about helicopters and the people who make them. My favorite helicopter is called the UH-60A Black Hawk. I like it because it goes 184 mph and can carry up to 11 soldiers and 4 crew members to. If anyone asks you for a good helicopter book you can mention this book. P.S. The name of the book is "Helicopters".

Dear Mrs. Phillips – I am reading a book called “What Happened At Midnight”. I like it because it makes me dream of the adventures that Frank and Joe Hardy are going on. The main event is about Frank and Joe protecting a special invention that the Mob is trying to steal. It is a secret radio that can receive messages from all over the world. The mob wants to smuggle it into Africa. I can’t wait until I read more!

    Patrick

  67. Hi Patrick,
Good to hear from you. Did you read anything about the Apache helicopter? That's the one that Randy flies. The one thing that I know about it is that it has a lot of weapons on it.

  68. Hi again Patrick,
Have you read many Hardy boys books? Frank and Joe always seem to get themselves into some great adventures. What is your favorite book?
