  1. Hello Mrs. Phillips I just finished Cam Jansen The Mystery of the Carnival Prize. I thought the book was very interesting. Cam Jansen and Eric Shelton were working at a carnival and realize that something strange was going on at the dime toss game. Cam Jansen realized that when someone plays the game, the dime suddenly stops in the middle circle. Cam Jansen always wanted to know how people won the game. She found out that Bert and Silvia fixed the game so that they would always win. Bert and Silvia covered dimes with aluminum foil and had a piece of magnet taped under circle. This made the dime stop every time they played. I am really starting to like mystery books. I am reading Cam Jansen and the Mystery of the Circus Clown.

  2. Hi Mrs.Phillips- I am reading "My Life As A Stupendously Stomped Soccer Star". I like it because it has a lot of jokes and I like to joke! All the characters have such spectacular personalities. My favorite part was when pudgy boy was supposed to be on a diet but still ate donuts and ice cream. I know Kate reads these books to she said they were funny so I tried one and I liked it!

  3. Hi Patrick,
It is great having a friend who has a similar taste in books. You'll have to encourage Kate to read Hugo now. So, did pudgy boy sneak the donuts and ice cream or did he tell people that they were part of his diet? Happy Reading!

  4. Hi Tiarra,
It is interesting that no one caught Bert and Silvia for a while. It's a good thing that Cam Jansen came along to solve the mystery. I enjoy mysteries, they actually get me into trouble. Often times I'll start reading and forget to put the book down and do the things that I'm supposed to be doing. I'm glad that you have discovered the thrill of mysteries! Just don't get in trouble!

  6. Hi Mrs. Phillips-I am reading a book about a kid who becomes a lawyer. It is called the Theodore Boone Kid Lawyer by John Grisham. The main character's name is Theodore Boon and he does become a lawyer. My favorite part is when his friend comes and Theodore gives him advice about how to stop the bank from taking his house away! But Theodore won't let that happen to his friend.I would like to tell you more about the subject but I stopped reading there. I also liked the part when Judge his dog jumped on his chair and started licking his face.I will write back soon.

  7. Hi Patrick,
I didn't know that John Grisham has written books for kids too. I have enjoyed many of his books, they keep me guessing about what will happen next.

  8. "Good afternoon Mrs.Phillips,
On Friday I finished a book called Cam Jansen and the mystery of the U.F.O.

I really enjoyed this book.It was about Eric Shelton entering into a photography contest. Eric is Cam Jansen's best friend. Cam Jansen was helping Eric take pictures. Cam Jansen is a girl who has a photographic memory and when she wants to remember something she says "click."

Cam and Eric where walking home and was waiting for the traffic light to change, when they noticed a gray and white kitten high in a tree. Cam kept the kitten and named it Neptune. While they where walking Cam saw green, red, yellow, and blue lights in the sky. She wanted to know what it was. She followed the lights and came to some bushes. Cam looked through the bushes and saw a strange looking creature. They had wrinkled silver skin,a head, arms, legs, and was about the same height as her and Eric. The hands where green its feet were blue. When Cam and Eric saw the creature, the creature dropped a pile of colored objects that they were carrying and ran behind a wall. Cam tiptoed to see what the pile was. The pile was children's sneakers, two jackets,an empty box of aluminum foil, and the wrappings from two pairs of green rubber gloves. Cam realized that the creatures from outer space were children covered with aluminum foil. Cam realized that an older kid was taking pictures of the children dressed in aluminum foil, because he was in a photographic contest.Eric was also taking pictures for the contest. However, Cam used her memory to take pictures.

She was still curious about the mysterious lights that were shining in the night sky. Cam thought is was a U.F.O. At the end of the story, it turned out that the kids dressed up in aluminum foil were holding flashlights and shining them on the colored balloons in the sky. This caused the lights to shine in different colors in the sky.

I thought this was a good mystery book. I am starting to read Cam Jansen and the Mystery Writer Mystery. I also just brought the new book Clementine and the Family Meeting. But I don't think that it is an AR book yet.

    1. Hi Tiarra,
The new Clementine book? That just reminded me that I never read the first one. I've got to get on that! Maybe I'll tr to read it during vacation week. I'll look forward to it because I remember how much you like the ones that you read.
So, would you ever dress up in aluminum foil? That sounds like it would be a very crazy adventure!
