Welcome 2012 4th graders!!  Welcome to our class reading blog.  I would love to hear about your favorite book.  What is it?  Why do you love it?  One of my favorite books is Holes.  I love it because I hate that the boys have to spend so much time digging holes because someone is looking for something.  I couldn't stop reading it  because I wanted to make sure that the boys didn't have to keep digging holes forever.

  1. i haven't read HOLES yet . my favorite book is Heaven is for real . I love Heaven is for real because it is about a three year old boy who has heart surgery and in those 90 minutes in Heaven he meets his older sister who died at birth and he meets his grandpa and he said no one is old and no one wheres glasses. and that is why it is my favorite book.

  3. My favorite book is Hinds Feet on High Places because this girl, she has mean aunts and uncles. And then, this shepherd comes and saves her from them, and leads her to a path that has many mountains and lonely places. Her aunts and uncles try to take her off the path, and she doesn't want to call the shepherd for help. She makes it to the high places, where they can't reach her. Love, Lydia (PS the book is Christian)

    1. Dear Lydia,
It is good to see you here and hear about your favorite book. I remember reading that book when I was about your age. I remember enjoying it and being encouraged by it also. What are you reading now?

    1. Hi Grace,
I'm happy to see you here. Matilda certainly does some crazy things. What do you suppose would happen if you ever did some of the things that she did? Roald Dahl is a great author, have you read any of his other books?

    2. hello Mrs.Phillips, I am glad to see that u have replied to my entry. And yes I have read other books of his. I also read BFG.It was a funny, weird and gross. It was gross because the bad giants who got defeated ate kids.

    3. Hi Grace,
Oh YIKES!!! That is pretty gross, eating kids. I'm quite sure that if I ever wrote a book it would never have anything eating the kids. I tend to not like creepy things at all. Did you read James and the Giant Peach? That's a strange idea too, floating in the sky in a giant peach. I wonder where he gets his ideas from.

  6. Dear Joseph,
So good to see you here! I can't wait to hear more about what you have been reading. Would you recommend Edward Tulane? I haven't read it yet, should I? When we read Rifka you may be able to make a connection, she is on a journey on a ship also. How is Edward's journey about love?

    1. Edward's journey is lead off when he only cares about himself. If Abline took Edward to Sara Ruth, Edward would not have cared that Sara Ruth died. He learned about love each time he got lost. Except when he was overboard.

  7. Hi Mrs.PHILLIPS it is Grace H. I am reading the left behind series and I love it. I have already read the first one and i am working on the second. The first one is about these four kids and their familys who believe in GOD but they do not. Toward the end of the book JESUS came down to earth and all the people who believe in GOD disappeared right out of their clothes and everyone else who did not believe in GOD stayed on earth including those four kids.

    1. Hi Grace H.,
Welcome to our class reading blog. I'm happy to see you here. It sure is good to know Jesus so that we won't be left behind. I wonder how many people have become Christians after reading that series? It will be interesting to see by the end of the series ( if you read them all) if you think that it could convince kids to believe in God. What is happening now in the second book?

    1. Hi Ben,
Welcome to our class reading blog where we will talk about books. I'm glad that you enjoyed Lunch Money. Another Andrew Clemens book that I think you might enjoy would be The Janitor's Boy. It is about a boy whose dad is the janitor at his school.
I am glad to see that you are currently reading The City of Ember. I REALLY like that series. I enjoyed it so much because it wasn't predictable so there were always things happening that you didn't expect.
      Happy Reading!
      Love,
      Mrs. Phillips
